Discipleship in Faith
Sunday, February 27, 2022 – RECAP/Study Points
Tithes and Offering:
You may have to change your approach as it relates to tithes and offerings if you are “GIVING” to “GET” because there is a more excellent way to give… and that is to be motivated by love. 1Corithians 12:31; John 3:16
Some people feel like they must get more faith…You will never have more faith than you already have. I want you to say that so that you can get it in your heart.
“I will never have more faith than I have right now”.
Pastor Dewayne shared: It is important to make a demand on the faith that you already have… case in point Pastor Mike and I have the same car; some people may drive like me and keep the speed limit; others may drive like Pastor and speed. Both of our cars can go 160 miles per hour, but if I don’t make a demand on mine by pressing on the gas, I will not be able to keep up with Pastor although my car has the ability to [go the same speed].
It is important for us to understand this because understanding is divine comprehension in your heart that gives you the ability to repeat something at will. When you understand you can make a demand on your faith. I also want you to understand because sometimes when life gets hard you will cry out to God, I need more faith. I need you to understand that Jesus has dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Tithing has nothing to do with money. A lot of people place emphasis on money.
Pastor Dewayne, what does tithing mostly deal with?
Pastor Dewayne: Tithing mostly deals with your heart. When someone begins to tithe, they start out in faith. Then when circumstances, thoughts, and different situations arrive, that’s when trust takes over…trust keeps your mind steady. The scripture says, I will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on me, which means you put your trust in God. Trust is going to keep your mind in line with your heart so that patience can have her perfect work. James 1:4
Psalms 20:7 (KJV emphasis added) “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we [the believers] will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
When I went into the hospital, it was the tithe that created an element of trust in me where I knew that I would live and not die.
Prayer:
I admonish you to be attentive, to pay attention to what the Spirit of God is letting us in on. We are way ahead of the curve. Praise God for our leadership as it relates to all of this. I thank God for leadership of Holy Spirit, I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am to HIM as HE has navigated and meandered thru guiding this ministry and sharing directives as we move forward and approach our year.
We have this window to be trained and to prepare in this season. Pay attention
NOW! Follow all the instructions that I am giving you. Proverbs 12:1
MAKE NOTE: You were getting quality ministry in the virtual space but, it’s time that some of you return to our in-person service. It is necessary that you return because, again, the only relationship a lot of believers have had with their BIBLES is [because of] the “building.”
REMEMBER The “TEACHER” knows when you are not in your Bible! “I KNOW”, IT’S YOUR BIBLE YOU NEED TO BE IN! You should know the truth, and the truth will make you free. I am passionate about that. If there is ever anything that you would need it’s your: B I B L E!
If you are not in your Bible, [it is] more than likely you are not in the Word. Remember Pastor and Mother Lewis from the radio…they would say this:
- How much do you know GOD? As much as you know about HIS WORD.
- How much do you trust GOD? As much as you trust HIS WORD.
- How much do you love GOD? As much as you love HIS WORD.
Pastor and Mother Lewis have been married for 74 years. He is around 95 and she is 93. We asked them, “how have you been able to do what you have been doing for so long?” Her response was: “It’s been the strength of WORD of God!” Let’s take that advice and make it applicable to our lives.
No Word -> No Light; No Light -> No Life… so then what do I succumb to…merely
existing. I am making a demand on your lives to get into the Word. There’s coming another day when this building will be shut down, and the only connection you will have [to the Word] is your notes and your bible.
Pastor Dewayne added: The Word of God must be so valuable to us during this time. The scripture says, “Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.” (Psalms 119:11 KJV) During that time frame, he said that…” I might not sin against thee”, but today we can say that we may walk and reveal Jesus in the earth. There are people who get the notes and they read the notes, but the notes are not designed for you to read, they are designed for you to hide them in your heart so that you can walk them out.
Listen to me:
- You cannot rely on anyone else’s prayer.
- Intercessory prayer is not a ministry for a certain few. There is not a gift of intercession. We are all intercessors.
- There are different kinds of prayer and it’s important that you know that there are different kinds of prayer.
Different Kinds of Prayer
- Prayer of Petition
- Prayer of Agreement
- Prayer of Binding and Loosening
- Prayer of Consecration and Dedication
- Prayer of Intercession
- Prayer of Faith
- Prayer of Thanksgiving/Adoration
- Praying in Holy Spirit
What is prayer: Prayer is simply talking to and listening to God.
Luke 18:1
- Men should always pray and not faint
- If you pray/talk to God, you won’t faint
- But if you faint, it’s because you did not pray/talk to God
Luke 11:1-4
- Jesus said “When you pray, say”; There is no such thing as silent prayer!
- He is very specific: Our Father
- This is not the Lord’s prayer; this is the outline for prayer
Nightcap
I want to stir you up to be prepared and always ready!
- Matthew 25:1-12
- 10 Virgins: 5 were wise and 5 were foolish
- The 5 that were foolish, were not just foolish but they were ill- prepared
- The 5 wise were also sensible… they were intentional and took extra oil with them
- When the bridegroom came the 5 that were wise were ready
This is a remedy that will keep you from fainting
- Luke 18:1
- Psalms 27:13
Let’s Stay Prepared:
- Gather a certain amount of cash to keep in your home
- Continue stocking up (nonperishable foods, toiletries, etc.)
