Discipleship in Being in Divine Alignment – The Power of Words

Sunday, August 6, 2023 – RECAP/Study Points

Happy New August!

Ecc 5:1 (MSG) Watch your step when you enter God’s house. Enter to learn. That’s far better than mindlessly offering a sacrifice, Doing more harm than good.

It is important that you learn the word of God. The Bible says my people, not another group of people, are destroyed for a lack of knowledge.

Ladies and Gentlemen, you must know that we live in a Word Ruled World! The world has not only been created by words, it’s been sustained and it will remain by words. So, whatever words you use will determine what world you will live in. You can frame or shape your world like God did from the very beginning when He said, “Let there be light.” He created you not only in His likeness, but in His image. And, as a speaking spirit, if He spoke His world into existence, you will speak your world into existence.

I’ve told you about the importance of understanding in the second lesson of this year that you would have to press into understanding to know everything that I am sharing. I have even gone to the extent of making sure that you receive all of my notes from every single message that I’ve preached. You are without excuse as it relates to your understanding. Whatever you understand you will have the ability to repeat at will. Whatever you do not understand, you will not have the ability to repeat at will. Understanding is divine comprehension in my heart that gives me the ability to repeat something at will.

I told you that words are free. It’s how you choose to use them that will pay you or punish you. Solomon told us that it’s by our words that we are snared and it’s by our words that we are justified. Some of your mothers told you growing up that one day your mouth is going to get you in trouble. And, we have understood as it relates to this series of lessons, that are words are even going to come up in judgment. The scripture says you’re going to have to give an account of every idle word.

What you have to understand is this, if you are interested in dominating in life. Didn’t he give you dominion over all the works of his hands? He’s never given you dominion over people, but he’s given you dominion over all the words of his hands. The man or woman who manages their mouth, is the man or woman who will master in life.

Pastor Deborah: Words frame our world. So, we participate in the activity that is going on in our world, with the words that we speak. If we are not conscious of what we are saying, we will become participants of what’s going on without even being aware of it. So, when we understand that the words that we speak are like the steering wheel to our destiny, we are driving somewhere, we are going somewhere, by what we say. And, for so long we have not been consciously aware, just agreeing in conversations, just participating haphazardly, without realizing that we are speaking spirits. The Bible says that He will create the fruit of our lips. And so, like you said, we have to be aware of what it is that we are saying at all times.

Psalms 45:1 My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

You can write your own ticket in life by the words of your mouth. Stop saying I’m on a fixed income. If all of your words came to pass how would your life be? Shakespeare said it like this, “Don’t give your thoughts a tongue yet.” Your tongue will speak what your heart thinks. As a matter of fact, I’ve discovered that one of the best times to hold your tongue is the time you feel you must say something. How many of you have been there? Holy Spirit is waving you off and you still said it anyway.

David wanted a watch to be set over his mouth, a guard to be set over his mouth, because he knew the importance of words and their ability to create in the atmosphere.

Pastor Deborah: You know, thoughts are really unspoken words. And that’s why the Bible talks about in 2nd Corinthians, to cast down everything negative thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. If we break that down, its everything negative thought that exalts itself against what God said. And, if we don’t cast down that thought, that thought is going to become a word spoken. So, we have to manage our thoughts first in order to manage our words. And then, once we manage our thoughts and manage our words, what we speak we’re going to hear it and then it’s going to get down in our heart, and then we’re going to have faith for it, and now we’re not only going to be speaking it, but we’re going to be acting on it. But it starts with managing your thoughts because thoughts are unspoken words.

Now, if you don’t manage your thoughts, even if it does not come out of your mouth, it will leak out of your attitude. Your dispositions and the way you posture yourself when you’re having exchanges with individuals, even your body language could be saying something that’s running people off.

But I told you that words play an important role in people connecting with your vision. Sometimes people don’t want to be a participant in what you said God has called you to simply because of your word usage. Or sometimes it just comes out of your spirit, or your disposition, or your attitude. Have you ever been around anyone that gives off a negative vibe? They are speaking without opening their mouths. The Bible says that we can know a man’s heart by what comes out of it. Because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

It’s important that you watch your words. ‘Man, my feet are killing me’. No, you may not understand what you are releasing into the atmosphere. ‘I’m on a fixed income’. ‘Every time I get a little something, something comes up’. Have you ever thought about the fact that every time you get a little something you say that? Could you be creating that yourself?

The Bible said that Jesus spoke to something that should have been yielding fruit. And the scripture is obvious and apparent when it says that His disciples heard it. The Bible says that we can speak unto the mountain (all the situations and circumstances in our lives) and the mountain can be removed.

I need you to make the obvious shift, where you don’t speak another negative word over your family, you don’t speak another negative word over your faith, you don’t speak another negative word over your finances. Don’t speak another negative word over the Freeman’s.  You have to be the stewards, the custodians of your words.

James 3:2-10 (TPT) We all fail in many areas, but especially with our words. Yet if we’re able to bridle the words we say we are powerful enough to control ourselves in every way, and that means our character is mature and fully developed. 3 Horses have bits and bridles in their mouths so that we can control and guide their large body. 4And the same with mighty ships, though they are massive and driven by fierce winds, yet they are steered by a tiny rudder at the direction of the person at the helm. 5 And so the tongue is a small part of the body, yet it carries great power! Just think of how a small flame can set a huge forest ablaze. 6 And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence. 7 For every wild animal on earth including birds, creeping reptiles, and creatures of the sea and land have all been overpowered and tamed by humans, 8 but the tongue is not able to be tamed. It’s a fickle, unrestrained evil that spews out words full of toxic poison! 9 We use our tongue to praise God our Father and then turn around and curse a person who was made in his very image! 10 Out of the same mouth we pour out words of praise one minute and curses the next. My brothers and sisters, this should never be!

How is it that your mouth is the very instrument that can determine your outcomes and your incomes? We control ourselves in every way.

Being one that has owned horses in my lifetime, sometimes it’s very difficult to get a bridle in a horse’s mouth because they know what’s coming next. But I know that if I don’t get this in their mouth, I’m not going to get the intended pleasure of riding the horse. I became so good with one of the horses that I didn’t need a bridle, I could just hold him by his mane and then give him voice commands. I believe when you start hearing from the spirit of God greater, you won’t have to have anyone on your back, pulling at your mouth, to get you to turn one way or another. But that’s a level of maturity that must kick in. There are times when I wish I could put a bridle in some of your mouths, not to have any type of control over any of you, but so I can get you to turn in the direction that the Lord would have you to go so you can have the best outcome. How as a believer are you making decisions that are contrary to the word of God. And, as Pastor, there times when I want to say, NO, come this way!

Pastor Deborah: You can speak words that will not just affect you but affect generations to come. You can begin to speak good words, words of life, and prophesy over the next generation, and call them into righteousness, and call them what God says about them, or you can get in agreement with what the world is saying is about to happen to the next generation. They’re all going astray, they’re all getting killed, they’re all going to jail. What are we going to agree with? Are we going to agree with what the world is saying or are we going to agree with what God is saying?

I don’t get it. How does the love of God abide in you, and you can bless God in one moment, and then curse another in the next moment. Your mouth needs to be trained. I’ve been to the circus where guys have placed their whole head in a lion’s mouth or put their foot under an elephant’s foot. We train our dogs. Some of us even train our children. We train our spouses. Whatever you do not train, you’ll never have the right to complain. But let’s start with this member that we possess, the smallest member.  Some of you all really don’t subscribe to training spouses. We train spouses through the word of the living God.

Your words are very important to how you will have life and Jesus said that we would have it more abundantly. But, if you don’t get your mouth in line, you will never get your life in line. Moses said, I place before you life and death. And every day you’ll have the opportunity to choose one word or the other.

Now, when it says no man can tame the tongue, it’s talking about the natural man. You cannot tame your tongue on your own. You need the power of the Holy Spirit to help you and to assist you in taming your mouth. You’re going to have an opportunity to use your words to either exalt God or exalt the kingdom of darkness. Choose words wisely!
