Disciplineship in Being Led by Holy Spirit

Pastor Deborah Grant

Sunday, December 18, 2022 – RECAP/Study Points

Welcome to the Stretch Zone! Every time we receive the Word and apply the Word, we are going to be stretched in our lives.

How many of you are interested in living a supernatural lifestyle? Why would you just want a natural lifestyle, when the supernatural is available?

We should not be just hearers of the Word, we have to be carriers, disseminators, and conduits of the Word. Someone should be benefiting from the Word we have heard. Our Pastor said he wants us to become the Word and become the lessons we are hearing.

Supernatural lifestyle:

You’re not limited by human limitations or personalities. This series of lessons has tapped the body of Christ into heaven’s parameters and provisions. The supernatural is not limited to the spectacular. The supernatural lifestyle is a phenomenon.

3 Components of a Supernatural Lifestyle

  • Know Him
  • Having Confidence
  • Having an Unfeigned acquaintance with His voice (don’t complicate hearing the voice of God, God will always sound like His word); It’s time for us to take advantage of our unseen power partner.

3 Things to Master Walking in Agape

  • Make Jesus Lord
  • Deny ourselves
  • Be Led by Holy Spirit

Living a Supernatural Lifestyle:

  1. You must depart from human reasoning in order to participate in divine transactions. Your obedience could save someone’s life.

  1. We need knowledge (2 Peter 1:2 NKJV) (Hosea 4:6 NKJV)
  2. He must be received. Having the 66 books of the Bible alone is not enough. In addition to the 66 books of the Bible, you have to have His voice. (John 16:13 – 15 AMPC)
  3. We must have a listening ear. We hear the Holy Spirit through the Word of God firstly, we have a witness of the Spirit (an unction), our man and woman of God, teachers, 5-fold ministry gifts, and spirit-filled believers. Dreams and visions are one of the languages of the Holy Spirit. You will know when the Spirit of God has given you a dream or vision because the details of it are very vivid. You remember colors, words, and posture. Keep a journal near your bed to record the dream.
  4. Submit to His guidance (Romans 8:14 NKJV) (Romans 8:14 – 15 AMP) – take a look at different translations for greater revelation. (Proverbs 3:5 NKJV). When you are not really interested in being led by Holy Spirit, it is easy to be misled. Many people are being led externally, instead of being led internally. We are supposed to be led from the inside out.

The Word we hear here is portable. We have to acknowledge Him in all of our ways so He can direct our path.

Ways of being led externally – (avoid these ways)

  • Head led whatever I think that’s what we should do, why ask God?
  • Need led I needed that! (Did you ask God before you brought that?) (Matthew 6:33 NKJV) Sometimes, we are making purchases that someone was going to buy for us. But the reason we spent the money is that we didn’t ask. Now, people have to be obedient too.

Sometimes, we have heard to sow this into this person. It’s 2 parts, we have to be obedient when the spirit of God is leading us and the person that is supposed to sow as well. This is why we all must be Spirit led.

  • Fear led fear of flying, being hurt, etc.
  • Opportunity led opportunity was so wonderful
  • Money led it may not be spending more money; it may be on sale (10% off led) this is why we have to acknowledge God in our purchases.
  • Popular Opinion led – everybody is doing it, that’s what we need to do (Romans 12:2 NKJV) following the trends or algorithms. God wants us to be led from the inside out, not from the outside in.
  • Relationally led you start a church and there is no call to Pastor on your life and when we speak with you years later with the same 10 members you started with, you say your grandmother told you when you were 7 that you would pastor. We are always being led by someone or something. Who or what are you following?

Ask Holy Spirit if should attend this event. Over a period of time, the more you inquire, the more you know His voice, you will not need to ask every single time, there’s going to be an inward witness, a knowing, the peace of God (the umpire).

  • Flesh led everything that looks good to your flesh is not good for you (Proverbs 14:12 NKJV) That’s the deception of it all, it seems right.

There are some people sent into your life to be a “destiny delay decoy.” A major distraction.

Discernment should be used to see what is wrong and what is right. (John 16:13 NJKV) Holy Spirit is our internal GPS system, our guide. Trust His leadership. Engage, activate, inquire, and acknowledge Holy Spirit.

Pray proactively. A Spirit-led prayer.

Ask God what you should be asking Him for. Have targeted, on-purpose, intentional and strategic prayers. God is looking for an intercessor, follow the Spirit to pray for an individual.

John 14:26-27 AMP We have the helper. The helper is the comforter, advocate, intercessor, and wonderful counselor. Talk to the wonderful counselor, you don’t need to make an appointment, just show up to His office because His office is on the inside of you. Holy Spirit is also a strengthener (let the weak say I’m strong) and He is the standby, not the bystander He is ready for you.

We are this earth’s answer!
