Discipleship in Reconciliation

Sunday, May 1, 2022 – RECAP/Study Points

What is Faith? Acting on what you believe.

What do you believe? The Word of God

What does the Law of Faith say? Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth.

When you enter the house of God, enter to learn. If you’re not learning, you should be leaving.

You may not be learning because you’re not applying yourself to what I’m teaching. And in that case, you just stayed back. What’s the purpose of staying back? You repeat. Whatever lessons you didn’t learn the first time, you will have to repeat them again.

Pastor’s Vocab for the week:

Loquacious tending to talk a great deal; talkative

Incorrigible (of a person or their tendencies) not able to be corrected, improved, or reformed, not manageable: unruly

Pastor Dewayne: Mark 2:22 is an example of an incorrigible person. It says that you can’t pour new wine in old wineskins. What it’s really saying is that the old wineskins don’t have the ability to stretch to receive something new. And there are some people when you are listening to the Word of God; you need to make sure that you aren’t like that old wineskin because when you’ve got in your mind that what they’re saying I already heard, or I already know this, you put yourself in that category of an old wineskin, and nothing new can be poured into you. I want you to be able to receive what God is pouring because what He is revealing today is a greater revelation than what you received yesterday.

The power to define is the power to fulfill. If you can’t define a thing, it’s impossible to fulfill it, and we’ve been talking about reconciliation.

We have been teaching about reconciliation, which means a change in a relationship; an exchange; the bringing together of two or more people into unity, harmony, or agreement by removing that which caused the disharmony.

In order for reconciliation to take place, we have to remove that sin that’s in the middle.”

Dr. DeeDee: “The more we have been studying reconciliation, the more I see the acts of reconciliation throughout scriptures… even in those that would not normally be associated with reconciliation.

Also, when we do Inner textual analysis or Intertextual analysis, where you break down the scriptures to study better, you may see a word like reconciliation in several scriptures, but it is imperative that you look up each time you see it. You do not want to assume that that word means the same thing in every scripture because it may not.”

Inside of “Reconciliation” is Resurrection and Restitution. You’re going to learn to reconcile your bank accounts.

Reconciliation is so important. You can take this reconciliation lesson and apply it to your marriage today, even when you think there’s no hope. Some people are filing for divorce because they don’t see or understand the power of reconciliation. The law, the devil, has created for the church the term irreconcilable differences.

Irreconcilable differences don’t even exist, especially for the believer. You only cannot reconcile #1 because you don’t want to; #2, your heart has become hardened. And that’s why Moses decided to give them permission to divorce. The spirit of divorce hung out around our home, but then we made a decision.

You have the ministry of reconciliation in you, and you can’t reconcile with your wife? You don’t know the power of the resurrection. You don’t understand restitution. (Singing) I want it all back!

It is my heart to see reconciliation magnified in your lives. It’s my heart for reconciliation to explode, ruminate, immolate, and duplicate in your lives on all three of these levels. Go teach someone the three levels of reconciliation this evening. It is the heart of God to see reconciliation taking place in all our lives.

There are three levels of “Reconciliation”

  • God to Man (Romans 5:9-11)
  • God’s Man to Unsaved Man (2 Corinthians 5: 17-20)
  • God’s Man to God’s Man (Matthew 5:23-24)

Romans 5:9-11 TPT  1st area of reconciliation God to Man

  • Unfailing love (Agape)
  • You are righteous in the sight of God
  • Something greater than friendship is ours
  • We overflow with triumph joy

Pastor Dewayne: “The word reconcile is mentioned in the New Testament 6 different times. Five of them have the same meaning, and one of them does not. Although they are all spelled the same way in the English language, when you study the scripture, you learn that they have different meanings.”

It was through God’s unfailing love that we are called children of God. We are love children of this love God. 1 John 4:17 says, As He is so we. So how do you kick people to the curb when they blow it?

2 Corinthians 5:17-20 TPT/NKJV 2nd area of reconciliation Saved Man to Unsaved Man

  • If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature
  • He did this through Jesus and gave us the ministry of reconciliation
  • Not imputing our trespasses to us
  • We are ambassadors for Christ (the highest-ranking diplomatic official sent from heaven to earth to represent heaven on earth).

So, God put himself into Jesus. Then, Jesus turns and puts this same ministry into us! Now, us (we) have to go. He put himself into us, to do what he did for others. So, this is your ministry. The ministry of reconciliation. Very few believers are actively engaged in the ministry of reconciliation. Your salvation is almost being wasted. This is the very first thing He wanted you to do. He came to seek and save that which was lost.

Very few believers/Christians are actively engaged in this ministry of reconciliation. He came to seek and to save that which was lost and gave that to us and told us to do it.

Matthew 5:22-23   3rd God’s Man to God’s Man

  • A fellow believer (a brother)
  • Leave your gift in front of the altar
  • After you have reconciled, then bring your gift

Pastor Dewayne: You can’t do this to a non-believer. No man can reconcile a non-believer to himself. When we are reconciling a sinner, we are reconciling him to God. So, when we are talking about God’s Man to God’s Man, the difference in this is that we are not reconciling to establish a relationship. We are reconciling to maintain fellowship so we can protect the relationship.

When it’s two believers when somebody lies to you or cheats on you, it’s the fellowship; it’s not the relationship because you and I cannot establish a relationship with one another. You were born into the family and were told that this is your brother or sister. He says in verse 23 to leave your gift. You may not have done anything wrong, but the scripture says first be reconciled to your brother, then come and offer your gift. You are mending the broken fellowship because the relationship is already established. It’s the fellowship that helps maintain the relationship. It’s the fellowship that causes the relationship to seem like it’s growing. The fellowship causes you and I to be intimate with the one that we are in a relationship with.  So, it’s not relationship here with God’s Man to God’s Man, Christian to Christian; it’s fellowship. When it comes to the sinner to God, it’s about a relationship.

The English language is so lazy because we don’t make an attempt to see what is being said, specifically about this particular scripture. You can assume that one word means the same thing and is applicable in every case, in each context, and that’s not true.

Dr. DeeDee: The word reconciliation is mentioned six times, but five of the six mean the same thing.

Diallasso (Greek) – Reconciliation for fellowship (Rom 5: 9-11, 2 Cor 5:17 – 20)

Katallasso (Greek) – Reconciliation for relationship (Matt 5:23-24).”

Two slightly different meanings for the same word.

What was established first, fellowship or relationship? A relationship as it relates to the body of Christ comes first. If there is another brother or sister, you are already in a relationship with him/her, and they should be treated accordingly.

I want to see growth. Let’s be the Body of Christ and not talk about being the Body of Christ.
